Things To Do Izmir

The first settlement of the early forms of the name of “Izmir”, which is called “Old Smyrna” in literature, is thought to date back as far as the 3rd millennium B.C.

Although the excavations on the Tepekule Mound of ‘Old Smyrna’ show a certain decree of Mycenaean influence, it is thought that the city was established by the indigenous peoples of the area, until Alexander the Great moved the city 6 kilometers away to the south-west on the Mount Pagos.
